Ian Davies, founder of Davies Family Selections, possesses decades of experience navigating the hospitality and beverage industries.
Kickstarting his career as a student at Johnson and Wales University, Ian first worked within Omni Hotels & Resorts and the original Capital Grille restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon graduation he joined Back Bay Restaurant Group overseeing management of restaurants throughout the Northeast region. Eventually making his way to New York City, Ian was working at Morton’s Steakhouse when he decided to explore a slightly different career path allowing him more time to focus on his children and family.
A natural transition, Ian entered the wine trade managing route sales in Manhattan, and then taking on the role of general sales manager at Jaydor, a large New Jersey-based wholesaler and predecessor to Allied Beverage Group. In this position, Ian managed more than 50 employees in a division delivering more than $50 million in annual sales.
In 1999, Ian and his wife Alysia founded their own wine import company, Davies & Co. Based in Massachusetts, the company focused on Australian and New Zealand wines and built a strong network of wholesalers across the United States. After successfully building the business, Davies & Co. was sold to Total Beverage Solution, a larger beer-based firm.
Today Ian is back at the helm, overseeing Davies Family Selections, applying his expertise to guide the company’s brand building, sales and marketing efforts throughout the East Coast.
